The Crazy Scots Bar, Blackpool

This bar gained national notoriety when the landlord became the first to be fined for not enforcing the smoking ban back in 2007. Given it's unusual shape, I can only guess that it used to be a cinema or theatre?

Princess Street, Blackpool

Princess Street, Blackpool. The last house standing before a big social housing scheme gets built on this site and at the old gas works.

David Shillinglaw - Artist

I've not had as much time to paint recently and rather wished I'd chosen a simplier subject. I got the reference photo from David Shillinglaw's FB page. I love his work. I think it was taken in Paris whilst he was working on a commission to paint a clothes shop. Check out his work here:-http://www.facebook.com/pages/David-Shillinglaw/148897111800570?ref=ts

ArtBurst Art Exhibition, Blackpool

Please come along and support this event!  16th - 18th August, 2012. It's the 1st time I've exhibited my work in a gallery and it's a great chance to see some fabulous local grass roots artwork.

Spread the word :-)

It was great to be part of the ArtBurst exhibition in Blackpool. Even though I was sad to see it go, I was chuffed to sell one of my original paintings for the first time :-) Photo by www.shanonleighphotography.com

Uncle Peter Websters, Blackpool

A classic Blackpool pub close to Central Pier. Whenever I pass by, there always seems to a party going on.

Church Street, Blackpool

Another graffiti piece, this time on Church Street in Blackpool and my first go at The Tower.

A graffiti piece in progress in the rain during the Sun, Sand and Spray festival in Blackpool.

Watergate Bay, Cornwall

This is Watergate Bay done from a photo I took during a lads camping trip to Cornwall. Whilst most people would paint the beautiful 3 mile long sandy beach, sea and cliffs, I focused on the quirky buildings :-)

Drummer's House of Jokes, Blackpool

This is one of Blackpool's oldest joke and fancy dress shops. The stag and hen parties seem to get more elaborate every year; I added the oompa loompa after seeing about 10 of them on the prom the other night :-)

Gift Shop, Blackpool

The censored version. Done for the owner of the gift shop. Any clues as to what's been edited? Sorry about the poor scan :-(

Art in the Park, Lytham Hall

I had a great time today at the Lytham Hall, Art in the Park event, showing my urban artwork for the first time, sharing a pitch with my photographer girlfriend, Shanon Leigh. It was well attended and we met some great artists.

Lifeboat Inn, Blackpool

One of Blackpool's oldest pubs just behind the promenade. Always seems to have old guys smoking and pigeons outside.

Wells Cafe, Blackpool Promenade

My brother recently gave me a picture of our great grandfathers cafe that was located on The Golden Mile on Blackpool's Promeande. I think it was taken in the 20's but it has long since gone, so for my brother's 50th, I decided to do a Welly on it.

The Ice Cream Shop/Rock City, Blackpool

Another commission, this time for the owners of Rock City at their other location on Waterloo Road.

Central Market, Blackpool Promenade

My first Urban Art commission was for the owner of this market on Blackpool Promenade. He wanted something humorous so I went for a saucy postcard feel. I predicatably called it "Beauty and the Beast".

Fairhaven Lake Ice Cream Kiosk

My obsession with ice-cream outlets continues. It's never the wrong weather for a 99.

First Urban Art Print Sold!

I actually sold my first Urban Art Print today! The honour goes to Anthony, the owner of Little Amsterdam, Blackpool. I spent the day approaching the shops I've drawn and ended up selling 3 prints and got requests for 2 commissions. Happy days!

I was thinking of publishing a link to his shop website but the content is of a somewhat adult nature.

Fish Poo Cartoon

Playing around again in Painter 12 trying to get to grips with drawing in digital. This cartoon is the consequence of an unfortunate incident with my cat who had a problem in the bottom area. I'll leave it at that but it just goes to show, inspiration can be found in the strangest of areas.

Bad Carbs Cartoon

My drawing tablet, the Wacom Cintiq 12wx, has been playing up recently so I've not been progressing with my digital sketches. Today, however, after reloading the software and saying a silent prayer, it decided to let me play on it long enough for me to produce a cartoon.

I'm fed up with knowing what I should or should not eat; high/low protein; high fibre; good and bad carbs/fats etc.

Blackpool's street cuisine is famous for being best consumed after a shed full of alcohol.

Banksy Graffiti, Liverpool

A Banksy rat on a derelict Liverpool pub which, after it was done, bumped the auction price of the building up £50k.

Street Art, Blackpool

In order to try and spruce up some of the grottier parts of town, Blackpool council last year invited a number of street artists to create some eye catching pieces; I love them but they are not to everyone's taste.

Rock City, Blackpool

Blackpool is famous for its "rock" which is a type of hard stick-shaped boiled sugar confectionery usually flavoured with peppermint or spearmint. Using a clever process they can put a name in the stick so that it runs all the way through it. This is not a self portrait! I hate the stuff :-(

I'm chuffed to bits to get a mention by award winning blogger and fantastic artist, Tommy Kane. Take a look at his blog:-

Gaietys Karaoke Bar, Blackpool Promenade.

It's been a while since I posted anything as I've been busy with caricature gigs but I have plenty of ideas for sketching. I seem to be adding more and more detail which means everyone takes longer than the last. It's interesting to see how my style is evolving from my earlier images.

The Sandwich Shop, Lytham

A little while ago, a friend asked me to draw this butty shop, tucked away down a side alley off Lytham's main street, for sentimental reasons. Not the place where he had his first kiss or tasted a BLT but where he got beaten up in a fight in his youth. Ahh the memories.....
