GYPSY LAVINIA, BLACKPOOL

There is something fascinating about Blackpool out of season; in that dead zone between Christmas, New Year and Easter when the season starts up again. The shutters come down on the town as it shelters from the winter storms that batter the Fylde Coast, this year more than most so far. I kind of feel like the kids in Scooby Doo looking round the abandoned theme park.

Dotted along the famous Golden Mile are these timber shacks built on the forecourts of a number of hotels on The Prom, mainly between South Shore and the Pleasure Beach. They house anything from burger bars to fortune tellers; for some reason I was drawn to this one so I took a photo in the rain and sketched and coloured it back at home. I hope to do a few more soon.
